In the 1790 Census of Harford Co MD listed with 2 males over 16, and 2 females.
In the 1800 Census was in Prince Georges Co MD listed with 1 male 26-45, 1 male 10-16, 1 male under 10, 3 females under 10, 1 female 10 to 16 and one female 26-45.
An article in "Morford Historian" by Mrs. Enid Adams claims there is proof he was a son of Thomas Garrison Morford. An Obediah Moffitt married (lic.) 24 Oct 1816 to Elizabeth Chenoworth in Baltimore Co.

Thomas Morford and Stephen Morford are listed together in a 1773 list of taxables of the Back River Upper Hundred taken by William Hutson.
A list of taxables in St Pauls Parish, Baltimore Co in 1774 shows a Thomas Morfoot, Drayman, in the Westminister Hundred. Another list of 1786 by Rev. Dr. West show a Thomas Moffett in the Baltimore West Hunded. It is uncertain if all references are to the same man or not. There are no Morford, Moffett Mofit or any other variations of the name in Baltimore Co land records up through 1775.
There is some evidence that there maybe more to the family than thought.
There is an obituary for Morfit that lists as brothers a T. Garrison Morfit and a Dr. John C. Morfit living in St. Louis in 1854. A Henry Mason Morfit was a member of MD legislature in 1861 died 1 Dec 1865 with an obit in the Baltimore Sun of 7 Dec 1865.
Some have listed Thomas's wife as a Jane Richardson.
Thomas Morford at one point must had been a Quaker, for he was a witness at the marriage of Aquila Price (of John and Rebecca) and Ann Griffith in 17th day of 4th month 1771.
Thomas Garrison Morford that he might have carried a letter as Thomas Morfit to Gov. Thomas Simms Lee in 1779 as in Archives of MD Vol. 43, p. 386 Also he kept a tavern on Old Harford Rd near Long Green and deed "Nancy's Gift" to son Obadiah in 1794 of 43 acres on which he was taxed in 1783
All above from Lee email of 29-June-2001
Thomas Garrison Morford {Maffitt} Lived on an estate in Eastern Baltimore (later to become Harford County in 1779). I don't have his wife's name. One Morford genealogy states that a family tradition says he married a Richardson. According to notes I took from Grandmother in 1962 the spelling was also listed as Morfett & Morfoot as well as Morford.
According to a Geneology abstract of early american marriages they list a Thomas Morford marrying a Susannah Leonard, but it doesn't list the state or date (1567004 P). One article cites this as a misinteruptation of a will, where Susanah, sister of a Thomas Morford married a Henry Leonard and Thomas was referred to as a brother-in-law in Henry Leonard's will in 1739. The Thomas referred to here, according to some research might be the uncle of Thomas Garrison Morford. There is a Charles Morfett who apparently came to Maryland in 1650, a John Morfit who came in 1663 and a William Morfett who came to Md in 1679. In Balto. Marriage licenses 1777-1799, shows Thomas Morford m. Hannah Presbury 29 Jan 1783. This is apparently Thomas Garrison Morford remarrying, as this might explain his baptism at age 61. Hannah was apparently the widow of John Presbury, as Harford Co. Probate records for Harford Co. show, Thomas Maffitt, as the administrator of John Presbury's estate {Estate File 255} of 11 Feb 1783. It was common for the husband of a widow to be the administer of her former husband's estate. Nearest of kin of John Presbury where Joseph and George Presbury. Joesph Presbury's estate was administered June 19, 1783 with Joesph Presbury administer (son?), nearest of kin were Henry Weatherall and James Weathrall. Hardford Co records all show the estate of an Andrew Moffett (Morfit) {Estate File 101} filed 8 January 1777, the administrator was Billingsley Roberts.
In the 1776 Census of Harford Co in the Broad Creed Hundred is listed James Mafford, with 4 (whites).
In the 1783 tax list for Harford Co in the Gunpowder Upper and Lower Hundred there are two entries for Thomas Marford: one listing the number of inhabitants as 0 (an unihabited tract of land?) and the other Thomas Marford (Forest) 6 inhabitants. The first listing from 1783 Harford Co lists the land as Nancy's Gift a 43 acre tract note:leased forest, HA Gunpowder Upper and Lower Hundred, (p. 67 MSA S-1161-6-7 (1/4/5/49). The second listing shows James Marford with the tract of land Oxford Resurveyd 111 acres in HA Gunpowder Upper and Lower Hundreds (also on p.67 of MSA S-1161-6-7 1/4/5/49) in 1783 we find John Marford listed as a bachelor in the Deer Creek Middle Hundred, with James Kelly as security. The cite for this reference is p 97 MSA S-1161-6-5 1/4/4/49) Thomas Garrison Morford might have carried a letter as Thomas Morfit to Gov. Thomas Simms Lee in 1779 as in Archives of MD Vol. 43, p. 386 Also he kept a tavern on Old Harford Rd near Long Green and deed "Nancy's Gift" to son Obadiah in 1794 of 43 acres on which he was taxed in 1783.
There are genealogies of the Morford family of Monmouth Co NJ which place Thomas Garrison Morford of MD as a son of John Morford and Abigail of Monmouth Co. It is also stated that the New Jersey family had its roots in MD. One of these genealogies appears in the Genealogical Magazine of New Jersey, September 1983, "Whose Morford Was He John's or Tom's" by Enid Adams. Curiously, the dates in this article for Thomas Garrison Morford (1737 to 1820) are also those that are in our family history. A John Morfit was transported to MD along with others by 1663 by George Richardson of Maryland {6:90}. In the 1700 tax list for Baltimore Co. a John Murford is on the North Side of the Gunpowder Hundred. The above genealogy places Stephen Morford of MD as a brother of Thomas Garrison, However, there is unfortantly any proof of this part of the family. Apparently part of this information comes from family tradition of a Zebulon Morford of PA which says he was a brother of Thomas Garrison Morford and son of John Morford. The other genealogies on the Morford family: Curtis R. Morford "HIstory of the Morford Family" July 1, 1892 Shenago Valley News Print, Greenville PA. LDS Microfilm #982376, and Update to "History of the Morford Family" by Mrs. Wayne Treat 1974, Mrs. Adams published a Morford Genealogy newsletter called "Morford Historian"
The NJ Morford family linage starts with two brother: John and Thomas, it is speculated that they came to NJ from MD. John Morford was in NJ by 1676 when he was granted 120 acres of land, and in 1677 received an additional 139 acres. His wife was named Margaret (from a 1710 deed), who may have died by 1720 since she did not sign deeds then. The last record of John was a deed he executed 16 Sept 1729.
In 1700/1704 John and Margaret moved to Cranbury, Middlesex Co. NJ.

22. THOMAS GARRISON MORFORD, by tradition a son of John Morford (#8), born 17 June 1738, perhaps in New Jersey; baptised as an adult 6 April 1800 at St. James Parish, Baltimore, Maryland; said to have died in 1820. Family tradition gives his first wife as Jane Richardson. [Might she have been a descendant of George Richardson who imported John1 Morfit from England to Maryland in 1663?] She was probably the mother of all of Thomas' children, and died prior to 29 January 1783 when Thomas, then over 44, married Hannah Presbury, daughter of Thomas Presbury. [The latter may have been the Thomas P. Presbury of Spesutia Upper Hundred in 1783, just north of Gunpowder Upper and Lower Hundreds where the Morford land was located.] A genealogical researcher, the late Mrs. Catherine Klein of Baltimore, stated that Thomas Morford
was said to have come from New Jersey into York County, Pennsylvania, and thence to Harford County, Maryland, where he kept a tavern on the Old Harford Road, "near the Long Green Valley," around 1776. Deeds show his occupation as "wheelwright" and "wagon wheelwright,"
Known and probable children (list may be incomplete):
63. Obadiah (a known son), to whom Thomas deeded in 1794 a 43-acre tract of land known as "Nancy's Gift" (on which Thomas had been taxed in 1783). In 1790 Obadiah was living in Harford Co., Md., with 2 white males over 16 and 2 females in his family; the 1800 census of Prince Georges County, Md., shows an Obadiah Morford and wife (both born 1755-74), a son and a daughter born 1784-90, 3 sons and a daughter born 1790-1800. [Was he the same person as the
Obediah "Moffitt" who m. 24 Oct. 1816, in Baltimore, Elizabeth Chenoweth? If so, it would have been a second marriage for him.]
64. Isaiah, born about 1760s, is shown in the 1790 census of Harford Co., Md., a near neighbor to his presumed younger brother, Thomas Morford. His family consisted of 2 males over 16, 1 male under 16, and 2 females, one probably his wife. He is believed to have been the "Josiah" (a probable misreading of his name) shown in Clift's Second Census of Kentucky,
1800, reconstructed from tax lists, which shows "Josiah," Thomas, and a George Mofford, in Mason County. In the 1810 Bracken Co. census is shown Isaiah Mofford, age over 45, with one male 10/16 (born 1794-1800), 4 males under 10, and 1 female born 1784-94. Presumed children: Jean, born say in the 1780s, m. 23 Dec. 1806 in Bracken Co., John McTigret;
John, born 9 June 1792 in Maryland, m. 29 Sept. 1811 in Brown Co., Ohio, Phoebe Tharp. Isaiah died intestate in August 1815, and Mary Morford, her identity not yet determined, was administratrix (Bracken Co. Record books A:418, B:331).
65. John, born 12 Feb. 1766, place not known, died 24 May 1837, Newcastle, Coshocton Co., Ohio, his 3d wife Ellen surviving him. He married three times (all marriages in Baltimore, Md.): 1st 15 Feb. 1784 to Nancy Kelly, 2d 7 Nov. 1794 to Susanna "Sukey" Chamberlain, 3d 13 Feb. 1817 to Eleanor ("Ellen" or "Nelly") (Chamberlain) Eagen; the last two wives believed to have been daughters of Philip and Sarah (Gittings) Chamberlain of Harford Co., Md. Child by 1st wife: William 1787-1872, m. 1814 in York Co., Pa., Mary C. Fulks. Children by 2d wife: James Chamberlain, 1795-1888, m. 1st 1822 Elizabeth Fowler, 2d 1840 Ruth Ann Biddison; Harriet, born 1797, m. Levi Plowman; Jane, born 1800, m. 1820. York Co., Pa., John Fulks; Ann, m. Mr. Divin; Elizabeth, died 1817/8; Cassandra; Sarah Chamberlaine, 1808-1830, m. 1826, Baltimore, Md., Richard Chilcoat; Philip C[hamberlaine?], 1808-1867, m. 1st ca. 1828 Lizzie Webber, 2d 1834 Mary E. Shopple; Thomas, born ca. 1809, m. 9 Dec. 1829, in Baltimore, Elizabeth Brooks; Mary, m. 28 Apr.1833, in York Co., Pa.,
John Gardiner. There were probably two children by John's third wife, their names not discovered.
66. Thomas, born 8 Feb. 1773, probably in Harford Co., Md., died 24 Jan. 1815, Adams Co., Ohio, m. 1st 22 Sept. 1796, prob. in Maryland, Temperance Robinson, born 10 Feb.1777, died 22 Nov. 1810, perhaps in Washington, Bracken Co., Ky. Thomas Morford m. 2d 24 December 1811, at Mt. Union, Adams Co., Ohio, Frances "Fanny" Rachford, who survived him and m. 2d 1820, James Erwin, 1763-1849 (Historical Collections of Brown Co., Ohio, Carl N. Thompson, p. 516). Children of Thomas Morford, all by first wife: Kennard, 1798-1857, m. 20 May 1822, Adams Co., Ohio, Ann Birket; William R[obinson?], 1800-1851, m. Rebecca Isabella [Dugan?]; Margaret, 1802-1874, m. 1824 at Cincinnati, Ohio, Andrew
Jackson Cox; Robinson, 1805-1882, m. 1st 1826 Elizabeth Norris, 2d Nancy Slayton, 3d Mary Slayton; Catherine, 1808-1891, m. 1830 James Meteer Eakins. (Morford Historian, April 1982, p. 78.)

Found May Daley living as a Guest or Nurse (can't read very well) at the home of Wilfred Kellog in Cook County, IL in 1920
Has a daughter Eleanor who age is 6/12 (as of January 1920). May is 22. Born in Missouri. Married but no husband nearby. The age is exactly correct and so is the daughter's name. Can't find Dan Daley living anywhere.
In 1930 Eleanor is listed as 9 10/12 as of April 1, 1930. If the 1920 May Daley is Dan's wife then probable marriage date and birthdate of 1st child are prior to 1920.

In the 1840 census of the 2nd dist of Baltimore co. James Morford has one male age 15-20, one male aged 40-50, 1 female age 5-10, 2 females age 10-15, two females age 15-20 and one female age 50-60 years.
Mrs. Enid Adams seem to think this James Morford married 2nd Ruth Ann Bidderson lic dated, 12 Oct 1840 in Baltimore Co. James was one of the last surviving "old defenders" from the war of 1812 in Baltimore. The History of Baltimore 1729-1898 claimed (erroneously) that James Morford was the last to honor the battle of northpoint with the parade in cocladed hats, where he was too feeble to walk and had to be driven around in a hack.

Males: 2 under 5, 1 20-30
Females: 1 5-10, 1 20-30
This would confirm the information I have
The 2 males would be John & James (b: 1837 & 1838) and the 5-10 female would be Susan, b: 1835.
It also confirms Mary Shoppell (b: 1822) but NOT Philip at 1808.

Emma, 2, Ohio - assume this means family moved to Illinois from Ohio between 1858 and 1860.
Jerry Morford 1910 Census indicates father was born in Maryland.
Jerry Morford death certificate indicates father was born in Mass.
Mary Ellen's death certificate indicates father was born in Ohio
From "Morford Historian": Moved West, to Champaign Co., OH and died in Indiana.
On 16 Nov 1829 he is listed as a member of the Falls Circuit of the Methodist Church in Baltimore.
I have concerns about "Champaign, OH" because Jeremiah Morford was married in "Champaign IL" and Andrew was born there. Champaign OH, Indianapolis IN and Champaign IL are in a straight, east / west line, 250 miles from end to end. And my Morfords have history in at least IL and Indianapolis... maybe all 3.

Isaac Burton is Emsley's father -- see 1800 NC census, Guilford Co, 1810 Rowan Co. According to records found in Genealogical Journal of the Genealogical Society of Davidson County, vol. 9, #4, Fall 1989, John Burton, who gave bond with E. Burton and Joseph Albertson for L200, per Rowan Co. Court held in Lexington 1819-1822, for the administration on the estate of Isaac Burton was granted. John appears to be an older brother to Emsley. I also believe that there were brothers Basil (spelled various ways), Joshua, Thomas and Jesse. They all lived in close proximity to one another. The document I found where Isaac gave Emsley land was the clencher. People didn't just give land to 'friends' Given in Feb. 1816, it was likely a wedding gift.
DEEDS Recorded - Feb. Session 1816, Isaac Burton to Emsley Burton deed for 173 acres of land; dated 13 February 1816, proven by Joshua Burton, p. 122 Rowan Co. Court Pleas and Quarter Sessions.

Harold D. Eads
1934-2003
Harold Dean Eads, 69, St. Joseph, Mo., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003, at his residence.
Born October 26, 1934, in Lock Springs, Mo., he was a graduate of Cameron High School. Mr. Eads had been a resident of St. Joseph since 1952. He was a member of Community Christian Church.
Mr. Eads worked as an electrician for Quaker Oats Co. for 29 years, retiring on Sept. 1, 1996. He was a member of the Quaker Old Timers Club. He served as a Chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Naval Reserves for 27 years.
After retirement, Mr. Eads had worked as an OATS driver for six years. He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan and NASCAR fan.
Mr. Eads was preceded in death by his father, Earl E. Eads and one brother, Lloyd Eads.
He married the former Donna Kay Pryor on May 7, 1954, in Troy, Kansas. She survives of the home.
Additional survivors include his mother, Lucille Eads, St. Joseph, Mo.; two sons, Christopher Eads and his wife, Nancy, of Klamath Falls, Ore., and Jeffrey Eads of Liberty, Mo.; three grandchildren, Misty Crockett, St. Joseph, Mo.; Shawn and Kristin Eads, Klamath Falls, Ore., and one great-grandchild, Alyssa Bonnett, St. Joseph, Mo..
At Harold’s request, he has been cremated under the direction of the Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. There will be no visitation or services. The family requests memorials to Heartland Hospice.
My maternal grandmother was Lucy Ann Elkins, born 28 Aug 1870 in Greencastle, Putnam Co., Indiana. She married my grandfather, David Franklin Brown, who was born 30 Mar 1867 Jackson Co., Indiana. They were married13 may 1893 in Mitchell, Lawrence Co., Indiana.
Some information has also been gathered from the granddaughter of Lucy Ann Elkins. She stated:
"My maternal grandmother was Lucy Ann Elkins, born 28 Aug 1870 in Greencastle, Putnam Co., Indiana. She married my grandfather, David Franklin Brown, who was born 30 Mar 1867 Jackson Co., Indiana. They were married13 may 1893 in Mitchell, Lawrence Co., Indiana.
I looked at my group sheet for Lucy 's parents, Wilborn Elkins and Matilda Jane Collier. The only child they have born in Edgar, Ill. was Lucy 's brother Abraham Elkins; he was born 1873. So, Wilborn and Matilda evidently moved back to Indiana by 1875, as their next child Ida was born then in Jackson, Indiana."
